Post-Production 2- “Wrapping Up”

I’ve grown to be quite proud of my  portfolio. I have worked for quite some time on my vision from thinking of a basic idea, structure the plot and storyline, writing a script and finding actors, filming, directing, and then ed iting it.  Creating a short film is not an easy task to say the least. One thing I’d say I'm proud for going through with was letting my situation not dictate my idea. Instead  of trying to film the easiest or more accessible idea I could think of, I approached it as if I were a real  film  maker with a budget, crew, and unlimited time.   This made it difficult to produce the exact piece I envisioned, but I with what I had I’m proud of the technique, ang les, shots, writing, lighting, mis en scene, sound, and editing I learned about, incorporated, and perfected  along  the way.

Post-Production 1- “Editing Troubles”

After filming and editing my first rough cut of my portfolio, there was still some editing and revision to be don e. I decided to keep the monologues the wa y they were because, even though some of my classmates thought it should’ve been shorter, they aren't exactly my target audience. I w a n t to  keep  all  the lines I included be...

Peer Review

This week, I received feedback on my portfolio after presenting my project in class. I was very pleased with the review I was given, I believe a lot of things I did and didn't notice were pointed out and they will allow me to polish up my portfolio nicely. Many of my peers complimented my portfolio, especially the shot when the group of boys bumped into Troy and the phone fell out of his hand, which I was happy to hear. My main constructive  criticism I received was that the beginning scene is a bit awkward and long, or that it feels very scripted. Unfortunately, I have put myself in an abnormal situation with the scripting of the film. If I make him sound too scripted, it might feel unnatural and and awkward to the audience, but if I make the language more casual, it could be argued that I'm stereotyping the character based on his race. An African American teenager has the same ability as his white peers to be educated and use long, th...
