Post-Production 1- “Editing Troubles”

         After filming and editing my first rough cut of my portfolio, there was still some editing and revision to be done. One of the first things I did to improve my portfolio was fading out the pledge of allegiance before the teacher sat down to avoid confusion and fill that plot hole. I also raised the volume of Troy speaking in most of his scenes to try and make him sound clearer. One of my biggest critiques I received was that Troy’s monologues seemed too long and scripted. This was of course not my direct intention; I was aiming for a more sophisticated and assertive tone to come off Troy, but then again, I can only work with what I have in a public high school. I decided to keep the monologues the way they were because, even though some of my classmates thought it should’ve been shorter, they aren't exactly my target audience. I want to keep all the lines I included because I believe they are essential to telling the story I envisioned it to the best of my ability.

  I found creating the storyboard for my blog to be difficult , but eventually helpful . While trying to plan it out, I found myself becoming more and more detailed and I struggled  to f igur e  out exactly how in depth I was meant to go into  with the storyboard .  Explained best by Higgins in his article “Storyboard your way to success”, “ ... storyboarding is ideal for solving complex problems - not only for providing solutions, but also for defining different aspects of a problem.”  W orking out every angle and making sure the events and different aspects of the scenes made sense and were appealing w as  tedious and  time-consuming  act .  Eventually ,  I e nded up do a storyboard “draft” plan sheet  to  then fill out the actual storyboarding sheets , which helped me figure out how much I was meant to incorporate while keeping it short and descriptive. With the new age of technology, television, and film, magazines have had to make a large effort to catch up with the new standards set by their opponents. They’ve done impressively well thus far, by transforming what was once a collection of plain articles with some advertisements to an intricate, colorful, audience oriented and bold mashup of ideas, ads, and images. The cover page and feature article are the primary factors of these magazines and make or break their overall quality and value. The main goal of these magazines is to interest their readers, cultivate these reader’s loyalty, and make money from advertisements. Decision Day

               My initial impressions of InDesign and Premier Pro were both mu ch different than I would’ve imagined.  Whether its film clips and audio in Premier Pro or pictures and feature articles in InDesign, both editing  softwares  provide a  plethora  of  choices, options,  and  styles   to create a compelling piece of media. A few of these  options include adding titles, changing saturation and color,  and adjusting size and shape of videos or images.
